Blue Coral Mall in Castries

Saint Lucia offers local shopping options that many visitors find enjoyable and interesting. Shopping venues and stores of all sizes island-wide feature a great variety of products many of which may be different from what is available back home. In some instances, excellent bargains are found as well, particularly on items produced locally or in the region.

Where to go ‘local shopping’…

A number of traditional malls are found on island:

Rodney Bay Mall, Rodney Bay
Baywalk Mall, Rodney Bay
Gablewoods Mall, Sunny Acres
Blue Coral, Castries
Gablewoods South, Vieux Fort
Super J’s Mall, Vieux Fort
Excelsior Plaza, Soufriére

In Saint Lucia’s capital, Castries, the streets are teeming with stores and shops of all sizes selling almost anything imaginable. Clothing, jewellery and accessories in particular, which are locally or regionally produced, are popular with visitors.

Near the Castries central waterfront can be found some of the most popular venues. The Vendor’s Arcade features numerous booths offering ‘souvenir’ items such as t-shirts, hats, jewellery, etc.

Across the street is found the Craft Market where you can browse through heaps of baskets, carvings, pottery, artwork and a variety of other items.

Adjacent to the Craft Market is what many tourists find to be one of the island’s most interesting and enjoyable attractions, the Castries Central Market, which sells fruits, vegetables, fish, meats and more. While the Castries Market operates every day but Sunday, Saturday morning is the time to go if you wish to fully enjoy the experience. Bustling with activity, local colour and Lucian personality, visitors are treated to interesting conversation and photo opportunities that will truly be memorable. You also are likely to notice some food items you’ve never seen before.

It must be noted that all towns, villages and even small rural communities have general stores, boutiques or little shops which can be fun to check out. Lucians are very friendly and generally fully enjoy interactions and conversation with sincere visitors.
