Alcina Nolley, born in the United States, received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo before pursuing a career in teaching. Later she and her husband (now a retired US Marine Corps Major) began visiting Saint Lucia on holidays, which was the birthplace of her grandparents. Taken by the beauty of the island and inspiration it provided for her art, she and her husband eventually retired to live permanently on the island.
Alcina works in many mediums including oil, watercolours, acrylics and digital. She also produces jewellery and fine enamelled craft pieces. Her subject matter includes tropical landscapes and environmental imagery as well as women and their relationships with men.
Alcina is very active in Saint Lucia’s local art scene and still teaches art from her home studio. She and her husband have two children who are artists in California.
