Abstract artist, Winston Branch, was born in Saint Lucia and lived here until the age of 12 when his parents, recognizing his interest and talent in art, sent him to London for better educational opportunities. After graduating from the Slade School of Fine Art, University College, London, Branch was awarded a year at the British School in Rome. He then spent a year as Artist in Residence at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Fellowships followed with DAAD Artists in Berlin and Guggenheim in New York. Branch then took the position of Visiting Artist at the University of California at Berkeley; for more than ten years he has served as an art professor at the university.
